I asked a week ago or so about convertible carseats and totally forgot to ask about strollers. For those of you that did not use a travel system, do you have any lightweight stroller suggestions? Same for any convertible carseat suggestions.
Any umbrella stroller should suffice. I'm sure Nikki will second this, but if you don't have 2 kids to tote around, you can carry your bag yourself, and your kid is old enough to sit up in an umbrella stroller, than it's the easiest thing to tote around with you! Even the cheapest one from WalMart would probably be fine.
By convertible carseat, I assume you mean one that goes from backwards for an infant to frontwards up through toddlerdom? I had a moderately priced one and a cheap costco one (I bought the latter for when we travelled on an airplane because it was going to cost less to buy one than it would have to rent a seat from the rental car peeps and since it was cheap, I wouldn't care if it got broken). Both have served about the same. In fact, I sorta like the cheaper one better because it's easier to clean than the suede-like moderately priced one. My experience with car seats has been that there isn't much difference from one to the next. Oooh... but, a cup holder on the side of the seat is really nice for when they get old enough to hold a sippy cup and can put it in there themselves. :)
I got nothing. We used the travel system until we got our double.
